How Tipster Titles Work — Rules, Data and a Check of the Titles Themselves

Forecast Record computes 14 kinds of titles from published rules and recorded picks only. Next to each prediction we show only standings earned and published before it (as of , source: our own settlement journal).

Three kinds of title

Standings are places in a named area (match result, both teams to score, goals over/under 2.5, European handicap, a competition) on the live record: at least 50 different matches over the last 180 days, in 8 different weeks, compared with the others on the same matches against the market price with the margin removed. Levels depend on the size of the field: No.1 from 10 qualifying tipsters and sources, Top 3 from 30 qualifying tipsters and sources, Top 5 from 50 qualifying tipsters and sources, Top 10 from 100 qualifying tipsters and sources; at most one in ten is marked. A profile shows up to two.

Dated records are events with their evidence: an exact score, a run of correct matches, a week, a month above prices, a competition week, a lone correct call on a match, a correct call at a long price. Next to the name we show up to three badges (standings first), in lists up to two and the number of the others; each badge opens the matches behind it. A dated record is shown for 90 to 180 days from the event, always with its date; records from the pre-match archive are marked "archive". Then it moves to the record history.

Record details describe the record in plain lines: what was recorded most, exact scores, minority calls, the longest correct price. They carry no badge and no count.

No hindsight

Next to a prediction we show only standings the tipster already held, and that were already on this site, before publishing it, counted from matches settled before that day. Badges shown before kick-off are frozen with the pre-match version of the match page.

Do titled areas do better?

Live record, last 90 days, on the same matches and bet types (0 pairs): picks with a standing in their area: —; other picks on those matches and bet types: —. If titled areas do not do better, we say so and review the rules.

Each title is a fact about past picks, by published rules.
